Hi friends!
Wow! So I’ve been away from blogging for a while, I hate that, but it’s been a bit busy around here! Rest assured my sweet readers we have several posts coming soon that are already drafted!
Today I wanted to share our Thanksgiving dinner we had with our special community group!
Several months ago I knew I wanted to host dinner to celebrate Thanksgiving for our weekly Wednesday night, and it just so happens we were able to share some big news with the amazing people we love dearly that night! (more on that very soon I promise!)
Our community group was started a year and half ago, and if I could even begin to put into words what a blessing it has been I would.
You see K and I are perfectly content just being together. We moved here I think 6 years ago and knew no one. This wasn’t the worse thing in the world simply because we enjoyed it just being us, but we all know that’s not healthy. Thankfully over the years this has become home, and felt even more so soon after our group was formed and became our favorite part of the week.
All through the Bible we learn of the importance of community. What still resonates in my mind was when Ryan (the community Pastor at First Baptist Nederland and the initiator of our group) said, “I want us to do life together”.
This goes beyond just getting together weekly and studying the Bible (there’s nothing wrong with that!), it includes sharing vulnerabilities with each other, serving others together, confessing sins to each other, and sharing good news and bad news and trusting that we are all praying for each other. There’s 3 certified foster families in our group, and all three have beautiful children they are caring for, how amazing is that?!
I love the mission behind our community group and I can’t say how much I love them. God is moving in each of our lives and it’s exciting to share it with others.
So before I get too sappy, here’s a little snippet of our Thanksgiving evening!
xoxo, Tamara
I’m so glad the group is such a blessing. I know that was the purpose.
