Happy Wednesday y’all!

Today we are chatting about seated rows with Marshall. As always images are provided by BellaFotografica, and are taken at World Gym Express in Beaumont!

Why?

“When properly worked and developed, the back muscles give the body a good V-taper and working them is essential for good posture.”- Marshall

How?

“This exercise can be performed with a variety of handle options which work the back from different angles and stimulate different areas of the back. In the photos a straight bar attachment is being used. Start by placing your feet on the foot pads first, then grab the bar with your hands slightly past shoulder width. Sit up nice and tall with your chest poked up high to keep your spine in a proper position. As you begin to pull the bar towards you, squeeze your back muscles together; trying to pinch your shoulder blades together. Try to pull the bar back to just below your sternum. Hold this position for a 1 count then slowly release the bar back into the starting position. If you feel this movement more in your arms (biceps) than in your back one trick that helps most clients learn to squeeze their back is to think of your hands as hooks and do the pulling with your elbows. Try to pull your elbows behind you and touch them together.”- Marshall

We are shooting for our next series and would love to hear what kind of exercises y’all would like to see on Fitness Wednesday! Also, we will be featuring more movements that you don’t need a gym membership for! Just good ‘ole body weight to get things done y’all!
