Happy Thanksgiving yall!!
I love Thanksgiving for so many reason, one is because its the one time a year I get to (and have time to) play hostess! We have had hosted Thanksgiving the past 4 years for our families, and I love cooking for family and friends (even when I get stressed from not having enough oven space, one day I will though!)
We have SO much to be thankful, and one thats at the very top of my list is that my husband and I thank our Lord everyday for everything He blesses us with, its not just on Thanksgiving in our home!
I am now “resting” for the first time in about 24 hours due to all the preparing and cooking I’ve been doin! So, I wanted to share how we do Thanksgiving Menges’ style!
Our dining room is a bit small for 6 people, so we pulled in my “prop” dining table into our sunroom for our Thanksgiving feast!
The year my husband and I moved down here, before we bought our home, we had Thanksgiving alone; and my very first turkey (which was 5 turkeys ago) I used rosemary and other spices and we could barely choke it down! From that point forward I have only used very few ingredients.
- Thaw turkey according to the recommended thawing time!
- Remove all the gross stuff
- Separate the skin from the meat and spread REAL butter under the skin. I never, ever cook with butter (I like my arteries), however once a year wont hurt ya! So I pile it on! Paula Dean would be so proud.
- I run sea salt over the bird, then pour maple syrup over
- Oven for 450 degrees for 30 minutes, then down to 200 degrees overnight! Make sure the internal temperature is 180 degrees in the thickest meat.
Todays cooked from 9pm last night until 12 today, it was perfect!
$15 flower bundle from Wal-Mart! It doesn’t matter where your flowers come from, YOU can make them beautiful!
Pumpkin Pie, Coconut Creme Pie (made specially for my sweet hard workin hubby! and a new dessert: A Strawberry Lemon Trifle, sooo yummy and super low fat!
I hope yall have had a fantastic day today with your families and loved ones! Who’s now preparin for Black friday?!
God bless!
