Hey yall!
Here is Sarah e. Evans Photography and our “Southern Tradtions” styled shoot inspired but none other than the infamous Kentucky Derby! I love that we have some amazing traditions in the South and the Kentucky Derby, more specifically, Derby Hats have always been one of my favorites!

We sure do love Southern Weddings Magazine, and were beyond elated when they featured our recent shoot in honor of Derby Week on their daily blog!

The idea came to me while driving to Houston, “oh my gosh! we have GOT to do a shoot about the Kentucky Derby” of course I immediately flooded Sarah e. Evans Photography’s phone with the idea! Luckily for both of us she LOVED the idea! When I returned home I looked up the date of the actual Derby, and since it was only a few short weeks away we had to get movin!

Sarah and I both scoured through our own closets for dresses, shoes, and accessories to outfit a few models. I basically wanted a few girls in solid colored dresses as “bridesmaids” with of course a “bride”, when Sarah submitted her images to Southern Weddings she “marketed” it as a “bridal brunch or possible shower ideas” which couldnt have been a better fit with how it turned out!

Here are some of my favorite which you may recognize from the actual feature! Enjoy!

The ribbons we used and the arrangement trophy base were provided by Jiffy Trophy in Nederland!

I took different jellies and honey and transferred to a small mason jar topped with some swatch fabric and made a cute label on the computer….Sarah provided the biscuits, tea sandwiches, and pecan pie!
