Happy Good Friday friends!
Can y’all believe Easter is already upon us. Why does time move so quickly?
With being a Christian mama with the ultimate goal of having a Christian home and shepherding my child’s heart, Easter is a big deal to us. It should essentially be bigger and more exciting than Christmas.
This is a lesson that I’m praying hard about grasping after actually reading one of Kerrington’s Easter books (God gave us Easter!)
I love how simple, yet profound kid’s books can be. I get overwhelmed with reading in God’s word (although now that I study and read more than in the past it doesn’t happen quite so often) because it can sometimes be hard to understand, but this sweet book puts it into a simple message.
“Because on Christmas, we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. But on Easter, we remember we get to be with Him forever.”
Easter is the culmination of the Christian faith. Because without Him rising from the dead 3 days after being hung on the cross our faith would be meaningless. But He did! He rose again. Jesus took on all past, present, and future sin for you and me and because of that sacrificial love we can find joy and rest knowing one day we will get to sit with Him in Heaven.
Now that I am a mama, I am so aware that I have a little heart that is my responsibility to teach this incredible lesson to. I find this very heavy and overwhelming because I feel like I fail everyday to show her Jesus sized love. But I take a deep breath, and recognize that I am doing the best I can.
So among all the ducks, bunnies, and candy options to fill a basket with I am starting a new tradition for Kerrington’s first and future Easter baskets. They will always be Christ centered.
Sure she’ll get candy when she’s old enough, dye and hunt for Easter eggs, and most likely have a new dress each year because we personally don’t believe there’s anything wrong with celebrating this way, but the message and reason for the season will be centered around Christ.
Here’s how we are incorporating for Snow baby’s first Easter!
A sweet stuffed lamb-
“But with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.” 1 Peter 1:19
(Thanks for the sweet lettering Chalk This Way!)
Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, He was the perfect lamb to be sacrificed so you and I could live forever in Him.
Two sweet books!
“God gave us Easter” and “The Easter Story”
Stay tuned Monday as I recap our Easter weekend festivities!
