Hey ya’ll!

I wanted to post about our treasure hunt! Last weekend I had a judging assignment for America Dance/Drill Team in Galveston for the Moody Gardens Festival, where I was one of several judging several AMAZING dance teams and solo routines.

I had not really explored Galveston beach as far as antiques quite yet, so I decided to arrive a few hours early to check out a few places I had googled…I found the stores I had found with my search and found a few items to use in some pictures, BUT with still about an hour to kill I began driving around downtown and came across a building with the words “Antique Warehouse” handpainted across the side of a huge building…. ERRCKK…(those were my tires!) I whipped a U-turn and parked right beside the building… walked in…and OH MAN, before my eyes was literally a WAREHOUSE of all things dirty, old and probably junk to a lot of people!

This was one hallway of a million!

Startin our day off with Ihop in Port Arthur!

We finally arrived on the island, and made it to the warehouse…and guess what…it was CLOSED!! on a tuesday? seriously! I was sooo upset! BUT, I knew I wasn’t going to let the whole trip be a total waste, so we decided to explore Galveston downtown…As many times as I have been to the island, I never realized the rich history that it has. The magnificent homes, the elaborate carvings and stonework, I literally had to make sure I wasn’t drooling! I guess its because I am beginning to learn about the different architecture styles and design periods throughout history…These homes and monuments have withstood insane hurricanes when newer homes were completely lost. It amazes me the craftsmanship that went into building and creating such pieces of art.

Mom and I browsed through several antique stores and found amazing items, we also brainstormed on more ideas for future shoots, about 2 hours into our tour, we were famished! We decided on a sweet little place, called the Gumbo Bar, we were both kind of craving gumbo, so what better place?! We had their chicken and sausage gumbo, and yes it was delish! If you are ever in Galveston , you will have to check them out!

About to enjoy some serious gumbo!

The last place we stumbled upon was a smaller store, but as we walked through, there was a piece of furniture screamin my name! It is a vintage distressed buffet! BEAUTIFUL! After a few texts back and forth with the hubby and talking down the owner on the price, we loaded it up and brought it home! Luckily its for our house! I finally have a project for our house to redecorate and incorporate it into our dining room! Cant wait to share with yall!

As disappointed as I was about the single place I anticipated going to was closed, the day turned out AMAZING! Had a great time with my mom, just strolling through the stores, and purchasing a few key pieces for some shoots, and of course my first piece of vintage furniture to use in my house!

As much as  I would love to show you my treasures I found,  I have to keep somethings secret! you’ll have to check back for the photoshoots!!

Y’all come back now!
